App
App hosting: your own backend and database, pay for what you use
More than a website: your own backend, an API, a database or a service that runs day and night. With the App package you pay a fixed base and then only what you actually use, and your app grows by itself within the limits you set.
What you get
- A container per environment (Debian), with a full pipeline: Development, Test, Acceptance and Production; you choose which ones you need.
- Delivery without hassle: upload a new version (from My Daylit, VS Code or your build); it goes to Test first and is checked automatically. To production only with your button, and back is always possible.
- Your choice of software: Python, Node, PHP, Go, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Redis: your package installs it. Your own addresses (e.g. api.yourcompany.com) with https.
- Secrets stay secret: API keys and passwords are set per environment in My Daylit, with your passkey, never in a package or message.
- Sign in with Daylit (OpenID Connect) for your admins, if you like.
- A backup every day and a snapshot before every new version; production on storage that repairs itself when a server fails.
- Like everything at Daylit: as much as possible on our own solar power, in the Netherlands, tested every week.
What it costs
Per environment € 5 a month as a base. On top of that, what you really use, as the average over the month:
- € 3 per core used,
- € 2 per GB of memory used,
- € 0.10 per GB of disk.
Example: a quiet API with a database uses 0.2 core, 0.6 GB memory and 5 GB disk on average. Production then costs € 5 + € 0.60 + € 1.20 + € 0.50 = € 7.30 a month; a Test environment that is mostly idle about € 6. A busy afternoon only counts for its share of the month.
In My Daylit you see every hour what you have used so far and what the month is expected to cost.
Grows by itself, within your limits
When your app stays busy for a few hours, Daylit gives production more memory or another core: live, no restart. When it gets quiet again, less, and you pay less. You choose the maximum and a monthly cap: we never go above it. If your app hits the cap, you get a mail and it does not grow further.
Honest
Daylit is small and runs on its own hardware. An app that needs a lot of computing power may be better off elsewhere, and we will tell you so. When in doubt we gladly think along before you start.
Getting started
We set up the App package together with you: send a message via My Daylit → Help or mail us, with what your app does, which addresses and which environments. Your pipeline is ready within a working day.
