VPS and ZonVPS: your own server, paid in advance, no surprises
Your own server with root access, your own IP address and full freedom. At Daylit there are two ways: VPS in a data centre, available now and easy to scale up, and soon ZonVPS on our own cluster in the Netherlands, on solar power. Not sure whether you need a VPS or a container? The difference is below the prices.

Do you really need a VPS?
Often not. A Daylit container can do almost everything a VPS can: your own software, a database, an API, a service that runs day and night. The difference is in what you do not have to do for it.
- Faster: a container starts in seconds, and a new version is on Test within a minute.
- Lighter: no whole operating system to look after. Daylit does the updates and the security.
- Cheaper: you pay for what you really use, from a few euros a month, with a cap you choose.
- Greener: containers run on our own solar panels and at night on our battery.
- Safer by default: a backup every day, a test environment, back with one button, and tested from outside every week.

VPS: what you get
- Your own server with root, your own IPv4 and IPv6 address, and sizes from small to large.
- Terminal and desktop in your browser: you are already signed in to Daylit, so one click and you are in. No passwords or SSH keys to lose.
- Closed by default: the firewall lets nothing in until you open a port in My Daylit, from a list of known services. Risky ports, such as a database, ask for a deliberate tick.
- Software included right away: Docker, web server, databases, Node, Python, and game servers such as Minecraft and Valheim. Pick it when ordering and it is ready.
- Watched by Daylit: automatic security updates, a list of what is on it with alerts for known holes, and a port scan from outside every week.
- Linked to your Daylit network: your VPS talks encrypted with your containers and your home network through the Daylit VPN. A database never has to be open to the internet.
- Backups as an option, and you can always make it bigger.
Price: in advance, no surprises afterwards
You pay the period you choose in advance: a week, two weeks, a month or a year (a year costs 11 months). With iDEAL or Bancontact. No usage bill afterwards, no hidden costs. What you see is what you pay, plus 21% VAT. An IPv4 address is always included.
The current price per size is in My Daylit → New VPS. You need two-step verification for it (passkey or authenticator app): we protect a server with root access from the first minute.
If you do not renew, you get a reminder first. Then the VPS goes off and we keep a copy for a while, so a forgotten payment never costs you your data.
ZonVPS: pre-order
ZonVPS runs on our own cluster in the Netherlands, on our solar panels and at night on our battery. It will also take Windows, Home Assistant OS or your own ISO for those who know what they are doing. We build ZonVPS out based on demand. Want one? Pre-order it in My Daylit and you will be the first to hear when it is there. A pre-order costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
Everything connected: the Daylit VPN
Link your laptop, phone or home router to your own Daylit network with one QR code or one file. Only the traffic to your own containers and servers goes through the tunnel. Your normal internet goes straight out as usual, so nothing gets slower. Your own devices also reach each other through the tunnel: a laptop in a café in the Netherlands and one in New York talk safely via Daylit, as if they sat side by side. Only your own devices, never other customers'.
